What a scenario is Scenario
A static galaxy scenario is a .txt file that a new game starts from instead of generating a random galaxy. A save continues a campaign. A scenario starts a new one.
Save or scenario
| Save | Scenario | |
|---|---|---|
| File | A .sav file in your save games folder | A .txt file in a mod's map/setup_scenarios folder |
| In Stellaris | Load it to continue the campaign | Start a new game and pick it as the galaxy size |
| Paint a Galaxy | Not needed | Recommended for any map you plan to play |
Make your first scenario
- Use File → "New scenario…", select "Blank canvas" and click Create. Keep "For the Paint a Galaxy mod" ticked.
- Add systems or paint them with a brush, and join them with hyperlanes.
- Set spawn points, and set one seat to 1st Player for yourself.
- Use File → "Prepare for a new game…" and click Apply. This keeps leviathans, marauders and L-Gates away from the starting positions. If it says "Nothing to change.", go on to the next step.
- In Game setup, click "Update counts" if it says the counts no longer match.
- Save into the Paint a Galaxy mod, enable the mod in your playset and start a new game. Your map is in the galaxy size list.
Where to go next
- Make a scenario lists the ways to start one and what you can edit in it.
- Paint a Galaxy is the mod most maps are made for.
- Export and play gets your map into a new game.
