Supported game versions
Galaxy Forge is made for Stellaris 4.x saves and scenarios. I've tested it in game on 4.4.6 and 4.5.1 only.
What I've tested in game
| What | Works on | Tested in game on |
|---|---|---|
| Galaxy map edits: moving systems, hyperlanes, nebulae | 4.x saves | 4.4.6 and 4.5.1 |
| Hyperlane edits | 3.4 to 3.9 saves | 3.4.5 |
| System view, planet, empire and wormhole edits | 4.x saves | 4.5.1 |
| Empire border and fill colours | 4.5 saves | 4.5.1 |
| Scenarios | 4.x | 4.4.6 and 4.5.1 |
I test with all DLC and no mods. I haven't tested Ironman saves.
Edit a save from before 4.0
Hyperlane editing also works on saves from 3.4 through 3.9. Adding systems and planets, copying planets and editing anomalies need a 4.x save, and Galaxy Forge refuses them on an older one.
I haven't tested saves from 3.10 to 3.14. They're laid out like 4.x saves, but they're still 3.x saves, so the edits that need 4.x are refused on them too.
After a game update
Moving systems and editing nebulae touch parts of the save that rarely change between versions. Adding systems and editing stars, planets, colonies, empires and wormholes go deeper into the save. Those are the edits most likely to need a fix after an update.
If the art or names from your install stop working, the map falls back to plain stars and generated names. Anything Galaxy Forge doesn't understand is copied through as it was.
Use mods
Galaxy Forge reads the mods in your playset, so modded systems show with their own names and art. See Game data and mods. Load an edited save with the DLC and mods it was made with. See Go back to your campaign.
